34-year old Bridgeport resident John Field recently wrote his first original poem since the fifth grade, an ode to his favorite baseball player, Mark Buehrle. The poem is titled “You left a Mark on my Heart” and its author doesn’t care what his friends think about it.
“Guys at the bar tell me I have a man crush and stuff like that,” said Field, who has shared some excerpts from his poem over the past two weeks. “I think them bums just wish they had talent.”
After repeated badgering, Field reluctantly shared some of his work:
“I like how you work real fast, and you seem like a cool guy. You threw a perfect game and a no-hitter, if you don’t go to the Hall of Fame I won’t know why.”
