Clay Matthews had been brought up his whole life to believe his dad was famed NFL linebacker Clay Matthews Jr. But a paternity test revealed today that his father is in fact someone much different – Italian male model and romance novel cover boy Fabio.
The news, although shocking, is quite understandable considering the two look very similar. In fact, some of Matthews’ teammates have referred to him as Fabio in the past; and numerous female fans have asked him to sign copies of their romance novels with Fabio on the cover.
Matthews, who learned the news along with the rest of the country during a live special of the Maury Povich Show, was clearly excited. But he’s trying not to let it distract him from his preparation.
“Thanksgiving dinner will be a bit strange this year, but it’s a relief to know who my father actually is,” said Matthews, who can’t wait to meet “pops” after the big game on Sunday. “I have so many questions to ask him, like what kind of conditioner he uses on his hair and how he gets his tan to that perfect glow.”
Fabio plans on attending Sunday’s game in full Packers regalia, complete with a block of foam cheese on his head and an overweight woman sitting next to him.
“I can’t wait to see my little boy play the football,” said Fabio via Twitter. “GO PACKERS – WIN THE SUPPER BOWL!”
