After a Blackhawks victory against the Stars last week, former Hawks starting goalie Cristobal Huet sent current goalie Marty Turco a text message sarcastically congratulating him on a victory with backup Goalie Corey Crawford in the net.
“Hey, must feel good 2 beat ur old team,” Huet started, before adding, “Oh wait, it was the other guy! Lol.”
Huet, who began last season as the primary Hawks tender before being replaced by Antti Niemi by the end of the year, first began sending texts to Turco after Crawford’s first victory, saying, “Watch out, looks familiar, lol.”
Since then, his messages have become increasingly sarcastic and pointed as Crawford has posted a higher save percentage, a better goals against average, and has a better winning percentage than the former All-Star Turco.
Huet currently toils in a Swiss league while under contract with the Hawks, where he seems to have been obsessively researching Turco, only to use this information to text snarky comments like, “Wow must have been gr8 2 b on an all-star team. O wait, That wuz 12 years ago! Lol.”
Turco said he’s not letting Huet get to him.
“As long as we’re winning, I’m happy,” said Turco. “Corey’s been doing one helluva job, and when I start I’m going to give it my all as well. It’s about what’s best for the team.” He then checked his phone, seeing a text from Huet that read, “Lol I said that last year 2.”
