The Bulls fought and clawed their way back from a double-digit deficit, but fell just short Tuesday in a 103-101 to the New Jersey Nets, also known as the worst team in the history of of the NBA.
The Nets started the season 0-18, and had only won one game all year. That didn’t matter against the Bulls, who couldn’t wait to get out to an early 10-point deficit and play from behind all night, thrilling a lackluster United Center crowd, most of whom came for the free T-shirt tosses.
Luong Deng and Derrick Rose each had 27 points for the Bulls, who look to take over the title of “worst team in the league” after the loss.
“Worst team in the league? I don’t know about that,” said Deng after the game. “Most disappointing team this year? I don’t see why not.”
The Bulls next play at Atlanta tonight. The Hawks are 14-6 and in the thick of the Central Division race, which hardly seems fair.
