The Bulls tried to steal some headlines from the Cavaliers after their trade for Shaquille O’Neal today by announcing they had signed legendary deceased big man George Mikan.

“With the Cavs adding an inside presence like Shaq, we had to do something,” said new Bulls GM Gar Forman. “Getting George Mikan — basketball’s first great center — from the grave should help us cancel out any positive impact Shaq will have in Cleveland.”

Though Mikan died in 2005 at the age of 80, many around the league think he might have more mobility than the aging O’Neal, who was a key component to Phoenix’s failed playoff run last season.

In the highly likely event Mikan fails his physical, Forman said the Bulls will pursue Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Cartwright or, worst-case scenario, Antonio McDyess.
