The Blackhawks fell to the Anaheim Ducks Friday night 5-2, which sparked the Blackhawks to begin a shocking promotion.
The Hawks play the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night and you can log onto Ticketmaster.com and get two free tickets to the game. That’s right, two free tickets courtesy of the always giving and completely selfless owner of the Blackhawks, “Dollar” Bill Wirtz.
Ticketmaster, the only company in the country that may be bigger pirates than the Blackhawks organization, is still charging a 75-cent convenience charge per ticket.
Sources say Wirtz had initially wanted a five-drink minimum with each ticket, but lawyers talked him out of it, citing the large number of children using tickets. Wirtz has long been lobbying to have the legal drinking age lowered to 10 but “until that happens,” lawyers advised, “lose the five-drink minimum.”
The Blackhawks are desperate to get fans into the building during this very disappointing season. Hopes were high with the signing of superstar Martin Havlat, but injuries and poor performance has cost the Hawks yet another playoff berth.
