The Blackhawks lost again Wednesday night as the Vancouver Canucks blanked the home team 5-0.
Brian Boucher had a tough game in net filling in for the injured Nikolai Khabibulin. The Hawks were also without their top goal scorer, Martin Havlat, who is on the injured reserve with a sprained ankle. This was a big game for the Blackhawks since they needed to prove they could win with key guys being injured. They certainly proved the opposite of that.
“We looked like a bunch of girls out there,” said general manager Dale Tallon who later found out he was being sued by the Feminist Majority Foundation for the remark. “We need to get better or else I’m moving this team to Albuquerque, where the real hockey fans are.”
Havlat watched the game from press box and was not very impressed.
“It was awful,” the injured star said after the game. “They look lost without me and my skilled hands. I was so disgusted after the first period I went to go watch the World Series instead. And that was rained out. Wussy ballplayers … play in the rain!”
The Hawks host the very talented Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
