Andy Dao, owner of the fantasy football team “Andy’s Daominators,” said he plans to support his star wide receiver Terrell Owens through this tough time in his life. He held a press conference at team headquarters, which double as his studio apartment in Lakeview.
“It’s a tough situation,” Dao said of Owens allegedly using painkillers to attempt suicide. “We just want to support Terrell and his family right now. Our prayers are with them.”
Despite the latest in a long list of negative off-the-field issues, Dao says he doesn’t plan to trade Owens or release him from the team.
“Will the Daominators get rid of T.O.? Absolutely not,” Dao said of Owens whose status for this week’s game was in doubt even before the painkiller incident because of a broken finger. “Will the Daominators bench him? Maybe. It depends on which cornerback he draws.”
Owens joined Dao for the press conference and expressed his gratitude to the Daominators’ owner.
“I just can’t say enough about how Andy and the rest of the staff here has supported me and my family,” said Owens. “It’s made things so much easier to know this organization appreciates my huge, huge talent.”
“When something like this happens to one of your players, it really makes you remember what’s important,” Dao said. “Yards after the catch. I just hope this whole drug business doesn’t screw up his stats. I have 20 bucks riding on the season.”
